- Dramatic, long-lasting, pinkish purple, smoke-like airy seed clusters backed by reddish purple foliage create a prized small tree or large accent shrub. Foliage holds its color all summer, then turns scarlet red in autumn.
- Hybrid catalpa is the result of a cross between the Chinese catalpa and the native southern catalpa. Like other catalpas, this tree has showy white flowers in spring, followed by bean-like seed pods. This hybrid may be difficult to find in nurseries. When it is sold, it is often the cultivar 'Purpurea' that is available.

This tree: Produces fragrant light pink to white flowers from late April to early May. Features simple leaves with an intense reddish-purple coloring that lasts all summer. Yields small, sour fruit that is blackish-purple in color and sparse in quantity. Tolerates many soils. Grows in a rounded shape. Is winter-hardy.

It's been a while, but we've been busy. However Big news, purpletreemusic.com is currently undergoing a major change. In less than a month it will be featuring a regular news blog, real time video feeds, and user interactivity allowing listeners to log in. Google users, AIM, Yahoo, Wordpress, OpenID ... most everyone can participate. Comment on features / items, upload content, and be an integrated part of the Purple Tree Project meeting friends with similar interests through the site. Additionally realtime video feeds will happen on occasion allowing a behind the scenes look into life of the band, creating demos, and / or spontaneous real time streams from the cell phone no matter what the location.

Purple Tree Café is a non-profit organization in Davis, California that creates community-based employment for people with disabilities and brings people with and without disabilities together through food, art, and music. We offer organic coffee and handcrafted vegan and wheat-free baked goods at the Davis Farmers Market and other public and private events. We also sponsor music events featuring performers with and without disabilities. Our signature bicycle-driven coffee cart is becoming an icon of our bike-friendly city. We plan to open a brick-and-mortar café to expand our opportunities to provide employment, food, fun, and a welcoming space for all — a place where “community” truly means everyone.
